Systems for managing research grants

Systems for Managing Research Grants:

There are a number of systems available that can assist in effectively monitoring and managing the budgetary aspects of a research grant during its lifecycle.

Department RGAs may - depending on their Department's policies - be able to request access to either the Cambridge University Finance System (CUFS) or to Cognos, both of which can be used to run a variety of reports and to query expenditure.

CUFS:

Award / Project Status Report: The most commonly utilised reports in CUFS for monitoring expenditure are the Award Status Report, and Project Status report. Both provide a top level overview of the expenditure charged to an award or project, matched against the budget.

Details on how to run both reports and the various options available can be found in this information sheet.

Billing Report: Alternatively, to query a list of expenditure items charged against an award, project or task, the CUFS Billing Report can be utilised.

Details on how to run this report and the options available can be found in this information sheet.

COGNOS:

There are many reports available in COGNOS to assist Research Grant Administrators in monitoring and managing projects.
