EC Funding Introduction

The European Commission (EC) offers a variety of grants, encompassing a wide range of research areas. Details of specific EC funding calls and the current work programme for 2016-17 can be found here.

EC grants form an integral part of research grant activity within HSS, and all HSS faculties currently have active EC grants. The HSS SRT has significant experience in supporting EC grants post award across the School, and the resources contained within this section reflect the collective knowledge gained from previous involvement with both FP7 and H2020 projects.

Research grants awarded by the EC can be complex; many projects involve a consortium of partners, applications for funding are competitive, and grants usually entail substantial financial and reporting criteria. To maximise the impact of research activity receiving EC funding, it is important to understand the sponsor’s requirements and implement effective project management early in the project lifecycle.

Links are provided below to guidance for EC projects, with resources specific to either FP7 or H2020 programmes included as well as wider guidance applicable to both frameworks.

If you have specific queries for an active EC project, please contact the HSS SRT directly.
