Research Operations Office

  • Are the recognised point of contact for communications with research sponsors
  • Act as the University’s authority for submitting applications and accepting awards
  • Arrange more senior authority for submission and acceptance where required
  • Set up and manage grants within the University’s systems
  • Work closely with the Department administrators to answer queries for grant applications and awards
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the administrative aspects of different funders and schemes
  • Undertake final checks on budget, HR aspects, sponsor specific requirements and University specific requirement for applications prior to submission
  • Negotiate contracts for research funding from non-standard sponsors
  • Manage reporting requirements for awards, including final reconciliation and closing the grant at the end of the project
  • Manage licenced systems such as pFACT (costing tool) and Research Profession (funding opportunities)
  • Deliver research administration training
  • Implement operational policy and compliance
  • Coordinate internal and external audit visits
