Arts Humanities and Social Sciences Research


The final, and often most challenging component, of an impact project can be choosing the best approach to evaluating both the process and the outcomes associated with your efforts. Embedding qualitative and quantitative monitoring practices into your project from the outset can be critical to your ability to produce a persuasive account of the successes of your project at the end and this short session introduces researchers working in the arts, humanities and social sciences to a range of tools useful in delivering a comprehensive final impact report. Designed to serve the needs of researchers currently planning or engaged in the preliminary stages of an impact project, the content may also be useful to PIs and teams approaching completion. Attendees will be introduced not only to digital tools for tracking social media reach but provided with best-practice guidance on securing and recording qualitative feedback, including testimonials. There will be an opportunity at the end of the workshop for researchers to put their project-specific questions to the Impact Facilitator.

This session forms part of a series of three short impact workshops happening in February that collectively introduce attendees to the key aspects of the impact process;  you are free to attend a single offering, but we would encourage you to consider attending all three in the cycle. All members of the research community are welcome.  However, this session is not intended to address the development of Impact Case Studies for REF 2021; researchers interested in the particulars of that aspect of impact should contact their assigned REF Impact Coordinator.
