*** The Project Administrator Network is currently under review, and at present is non active ***

Background to the PAN:

The HSS School Research Team coordinated the joint AHSS Project Administrators' Network (PAN) between 2015 and 2017. This initiative provided a cross-School forum for individuals with an administrative role on research grants within AHSS to meet one another, sharing expertise and best practice.

Across the Schools of Arts and Humanities, and the Humanities and Social Sciences, there are almost 50 research grants with a specific individual taking responsibility for administrative elements of grant management. There are currently 33 individuals in post and several more roles being recruited.

The remit of the PAN was detailed through discussions in the first meeting, as follows:

  • Share good practice and specialist experience
  • Discuss ideas and new approaches
  • Network with colleagues in similar roles
  • Informal mentoring – particularly for new PAs, or new projects
  • Provide a virtual forum – provide ongoing peer to peer support, disseminate information
  • Share and develop web resources – raising awareness of what’s available, and developing new resources
  • Provide practical support – potentially develop a handbook; basics of grant administration, definitions, links to policies and procedural information
  • Highlight professional development opportunities

The PAN has a dedicated Moodle site with full details of meetings, a discussion forum and resources to support best practice grant management.
